I feel that young children would enjoy this story, too, if someone would read it to them but some of the words used would be difficult for even an older child to pronounce. I even learned things I didn't know by reading this book. Such as, the sailboats used by Egyptians is called a "felucca" and the giant sail is a "lateen". It teaches kids the proper names for different items in whatever country they are currently in. It's not only an adventure, it's a learning tool as well. It has illustrations, that almost have a life-like quality, on every page to go along with the story and kids will really enjoy seeing where they are going as well as reading about it. I can't think of a single kid that wouldn't like to take a ride on a hot air balloon. Ace rides planes, boats and hot air balloons to find his way across several foreign countries and, eventually, find his way back home. I feel the storyline was great because it shows just how adventurous and imaginative a child can be. Using his imagination, he takes off on an adventure through foreign lands from Greece to India with Hannibal, the young elephant sidekick that is in his care.Īce London is a fun book of adventure that will stimulate a child's imagination and captivate their interest.
